Digital Organiser (Member Engagement)
Make 2026 the year you change the sector and how unions organise.
- Full time role based in South Melbourne
- Hybrid working arrangements
- Level 6 -7 banding $112,000 - $140,000 + super
Why This Role Exists
You have seen it before, organisers stretched thin, systems that slow things down, data that exists but doesn't quite help people win.
This role exists because the NTEU is serious about doing better.
As we head into 2026, the union is investing in organising that is more connected, more strategic, and more human. The National Digital Organiser (Member Engagement) plays a critical role in making sure our digital tools genuinely support organising on the ground not complicate it.
What You Will Influence
You are not stepping into a maintenance role. You are stepping into a role with influence.
You will work alongside organisers to help them grow membership, strengthen relationships, and move people from interest to action. You will improve the systems they rely on, design clearer member journeys, and help ensure that every digital interaction strengthens the union rather than diluting it. Your work will help shape how thousands of members experience the NTEU
How You Make a Difference
You use technology with intent. You ask, "Does this help organisers do their job better?" — and if the answer is no, you change it.
In practice, that means:
- Supporting organisers to use digital strategies that grow and retain membership
- Improving systems like iMIS so data works for people, not against them
- Building simple, effective tools that support campaigns and engagement
- Helping staff feel confident using digital systems through training and support
You collaborate widely and bring people along with you. Change sticks because you build trust, not just processes.
Who This Will Suit
This role suits someone who understands organising culture and believes digital tools should strengthen it. You may come from union organising, digital campaigning, or both. You are comfortable with systems, but your strength is people listening, translating, supporting, and motivating. You care deeply about fairness, solidarity, and collective action. You want your work to contribute to something bigger than yourself.
What You Bring
- Experience in organising and/or digital campaigning in a union or values-driven organisation
- The ability to design digital approaches that support real organising outcomes
- Confidence working with databases or digital platforms (iMIS experience is an advantage)
- Clear communication and a collaborative, supportive working style
What You Get in Return
This is meaningful, national work with real impact.
You will join a union that is committed to evolving how it organises, supporting its staff, and investing in long-term change. You will be trusted to bring ideas, challenge assumptions, and help shape the future. You will also receive strong union conditions, flexibility, and the support of a committed national team.
