The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents over 27,000 academic and professional staff in universities and other tertiary education providers throughout Australia. The Union's SA Division, which represents members employed at Adelaide University and Flinders University, is seeking to employ a highly motivated staff member to join its team of industrial and organising staff.

About the role

This is a part-time position (at 0.8). You will be located at the SA Division office in Adelaide but will also have specified Branch allocated time which will involve travelling to Flinders University and other universities in SA.

You will be assigned a mix of duties, including working in a team and taking responsibility for the completion of assigned organising, campaign, recruitment, administrative, and digital tasks or projects.

What's needed for your success:

  • A demonstrated background and commitment to unionism and advocacy for social justice issues and/or workplace rights;
  • Experience in recruitment, organising, campaigning, administration, and database management;
  • Elevated digital literacies and online skills and capacities;
  • Experience working cooperatively in teams-based environments;
  • Exceptional social and interpersonal skills; and
  • Knowledge of the tertiary sector and experience in the support of activist networks would be an advantage.

What's on offer

The position will be filled at either NTEU Level 5 ($96,394 to $104,219 FTE) or NTEU Level 6 ($108,828 to $119,304 FTE) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national collective agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.
